New Jersey Real Estate CE Breakdown

New Jersey real estate agents must renew their license every two years. The current cycle runs from 2023 to 2025, and the next renewal will be in 2027.

For 2025, the 12-hour CE requirement is broken down as follows:

Required Courses (6 Hours Total)

2 Hours of Core Topics
2 Hours of Ethics
1 Hour of Fair Housing (Includes NJ Discrimination Law)
1 Hour of Agency (New for 2025, aligns with NAR settlement changes)

The remaining 6 hours can be completed with elective courses of your choice.

Who Must Complete CE?

Salespersons, Broker-Salespersons, and Brokers → Required to complete all 12 hours.
Referral Salespersons → Not required to complete CE unless switching to an active license.

CE Deadlines & Late Fees

New Jersey operates on a 2-year renewal cycle, ending June 30th of odd-numbered years (e.g., 2023, 2025, 2027).

Important Deadlines

April 30, 2025 – CE Completion Deadline (Must finish all 12 hours)
- Miss the deadline? → You’ll be charged a $200 late fee.
June 30, 2025 – License Renewal Deadline (Paperwork + Fee Payment)

How to Renew Your License in New Jersey

Step 1: Complete 12 Hours of CE (By April 30, 2025)

Step 2: Verify Course Completion Reporting

Your CE provider should report your credits to New Jersey in a timely manner.
Check your PSI account to ensure your credits have been processed.

Step 3: Process Your Renewal (By June 30, 2025)

Submit renewal through the New Jersey Commission Portal.
Pay the required renewal fee.
Once processed, you’re good until 2027!
