Texas Broker Responsibility (2021-2022)

Each two-year renewal cycle, the Texas Real Estate Commission chooses a mandatory, core topic for all renewing broker licensees to complete. For licensees renewing in 2021 or 2022, this topic is to address the regulatory aspects of the management, operation, and supervision of a real estate brokerage firm in Texas.

The course provides an understanding and working knowledge of a broker’s responsibilities and obligations under Title 22 of the Texas Administrative Code (TAC), TREC Rule §535.2, which sets out specific requirements and best practices for brokers, The Commission provides the outline and text for the core course.

We will begin by taking a look at the purpose of the course, as well as discuss who is required to take it. The course will then cover scope and competency, fiduciary responsibilities, property management and trust accounts, delegated supervisors and teams, advertising and name registration, written policies, and additional broker duties.
