First Renewal?

1.	Can I take classes online? Yes, the full continuing education requirements can be completed with online courses.
2.	Are there any limitations to how quickly I can complete my continuing education? No.
3.	What are the steps to renew my license? You can renew your license with the state online after completing your continuing education courses. You must renew by midnight of your renewal due date to avoid lapsing and incurring a late fee. The license renewal application can be submitted to the state here: Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
4.	What happens if I don't renew my license in time? You have 60 days from the date your license expires to complete the CE requirements and renew your license. The state charges licensees a late fee of $20.00 for late renewals. There is no grace period that allows you to continue working until the license is renewed. If you license has been expired for over 60 days, please contact the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs at (517) 241-0199 to find out what options are available to you.
5.	What if I did not complete the annual 2-hour Legal topics and 1-hour Fair Housing requirement from a previous year? Michigan licensees are required to complete 2 hours of Legal topics and 1-hour of Fair Housing for each year in the renewal cycle. If you are missing hours from a previous year in this renewal cycle, our 18-hour package provides additional Legal topics and Fair Housing plus the full Elective requirement.
